** Open Postdoc (m/f/d) Position for mesoscale modelling at KIT **

Dear colleagues,

The WindForS wind energy research cluster in southern Germany is one of the major academic wind energy research clusters in Europe. Founded in 2011, WindForS includes more than 20 groups at seven universities and research institutions. Our expertise covers the whole wind energy system, including wind turbines, the electricity grid, people, and the environment. We address issues like social acceptance, optimization, and how to integrate wind energy in to the energy system.

One of our members, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research – Atmospheric Environmental Research (IMK-IFU) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, currently has an open position for a

** Postdoc (m/f/d) for the subproject “Mesoscale Modeling – Focus Coastlines” **

as part of the project X-Wakes “Interaction of wakes of large offshore wind parks and wind park clusters with the atmospheric boundary layer”, funded by the German Ministry of Economy and Energy (BMWi).

The Postdoc will be working with the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) extensively to validate and improve the use of WRF for offshore wind energy applications.
