£33,797 to £40,322 per annum

We are seeking a senior research associate to investigate the representation of mixed-phase clouds in models and the sensitivity of the climate system to their representation. You will work with a numerical weather and climate prediction model to test parameterization schemes for large scale clouds, cloud microphysics and aerosols. Then evaluate how their representation impacts weather systems and the climate system. You will be a key researcher within an exciting new project, Southern Ocean Clouds that will make use of existing and new research station, research vessel and aircraft observations of the atmosphere over the Southern Ocean and Antarctica.  

The research will be based at the University of East Anglia in the School of Environmental Sciences.
 
You will hold a PhD (or equivalent qualification or experience) in Meteorology, Physics or a related subject awarded or to be awarded within six months of appointment. You should also have excellent oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of basic meteorology and be able to meet all the essential criteria set out in the Person Specification. 

This full time post, possibly 0.5 FTE for the first year, is available from 1 April 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter (flexible up to 1 July 2021) and is for a fixed term period of 30 months.
