The Climate Science program in the Department of Plants, Soils, and Climate at Utah State University (http://www.usu.edu/degrees/index.cfm?id=56) seeks motivated students (Master or Ph.D.) to study the linkage between droughts (e.g., precipitation deficit) and large-scale meteorological phenomena in the United States. The project will include dynamical modeling, such as state-of-the-art global and regional climate models, and statistical analyses of observed and model-simulated climate datasets. Students who have a strong passion and interest in regional drought dynamics, prediction, and weather linkages should contact Dr. Wei Zhang (w.zhang@usu.edu) and include the following material:

Candidates must have a degree in atmospheric or climate-related science, physical geography, hydrology, mathematics, physics, or statistics. Individuals with good knowledge of computer programming are strongly encouraged to apply.
