Dear All,
a PhD position is available in the Climate Dynamics group at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Germany.
Summary: The Arctic Ocean is undergoing rapid change. One of the most prominent features of this transition is the so-called Arctic Atlantification – with potentially strong implications for Arctic sea ice decline. In this project, an eddy-resolving global setup of FESOM2 (Finite volumE Sea-ice Ocean Model) at an unprecedented resolution of 1km in the Arctic will be used to explore the ongoing and future development of Arctic Atlantification. In this context, one key aim is to understand how meso-scale eddy dynamics and properties will change in the future and influence the regional and basic-wide halocline, Atlantic Water layer and sea ice.
