PhD at CEA-DAM in geophysics and signal processing.
CEA-DAM is a research center which exploits and analyses infrasound data of the International Monitoring System (IMS) established to verify compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
Charactering the infrasound ambient noise is crucial for operational infrasound monitoring as coherent noise may interfere with the detection and identification of transient signals of interest. The main objective of this thesis is to improve operational monitoring procedures by elaborating a cost-effective high-resolution detection algorithm to characterize sources of interest in noisy environment.
The ideal candidate will have a background in geophysics, mathematics, and signal processing. The student will be advised by the University of Orleans and Mine-Telecom Institut (France).
1. BS in geophysics, mathematics, or relevant field of science.
2. Ability to pursue research both independently and collaboratively.
3. A strong background in programming.
The position is for the duration of the PhD.
The position is based at CEA-DAM research center, in Bruyeres-le-Chatel, 30 km south of Paris.
The ideal start date is for the Fall 2020 semester.
