TEXAS, COLLEGE STATION. Texas A&M University. The Department of 
Geography, College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University, invites 
applications for one full-time non-tenure track Visiting Assistant 
Professor position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning fall 2020.

The visiting assistant professor will be responsible for teaching 5 
courses per year. Courses are at the discretion of the Department Head 
to fulfill critical teaching needs in the Department of Geography. 
Visiting Assistant Professors are encouraged to engage in research and 
lead high impact learning experiences for undergraduates. The successful 
applicant will be required to teach introductory physical geography 
along with advanced courses in climatology. A combination of 
face-to-face and on-line instruction will be required.

The Department of Geography ( has 24 faculty 
members with strengths in biogeography, climatology, geomorphology, 
human geography, human-environment relationships, and geographic 
information science and technology (GIST). We are based in the College 
of Geosciences ( with the Departments of 
Atmospheric Science, Geology & Geophysics, and Oceanography, and play a 
major role in the Environmental Programs in Geosciences. The College of 
Geosciences also includes Sea Grant, the Geochemical and Environmental 
Research Group (GERG), and the International Ocean Discovery Program 
(IODP). Texas A&M University, a land-, sea-, and space-grant university, 
is located in a metropolitan area with a dynamic and international

Qualifications for this position include demonstrated experience in 
teaching face-to-face, online, and blended classes is desired. 
Candidates must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment with a degree in 
geography or closely allied field.
