Security requires understanding of the vulnerabilities of human
artifacts, processes, organizations and the environment in which we
operate as well as the management of the associated risks. When
technological, regulatory, organizational and social aspects cannot be
easily disentangled (as it virtually happens in all sectors of practical
interest), risk management and security can only be attained by
leveraging a variety of disciplines: engineering, law, management,
security and strategic studies. This PhD program offers you a lively,
international and multidisciplinary academic environment to achieve this.

The PhD program in Security, Risk and Vulnerability of the University of
Genova is a three-year research degree structured in five curricula:
1. Cybersecurity and Reliable Artificial Intelligence (in cooperation
with Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento)
2. Security and Law
3. Security and Strategic Studies
4. Management and Security
5. Risk and Resilience Engineering for the Natural, Industrialized and
Built Environments

PhD students are expected to acquire broad foundations on both practical
and theoretical aspects of security and risk management, learn how to
conduct high quality research, and solve important research questions of
the selected research topic.
We are looking for bright and ambitious students from any area of
Science, Engineering, Management, Law and Political Sciences to join
this exciting new program.

The following scholarships are available for the next academic year
● Cybersecurity and Reliable Artificial Intelligence - 7 scholarships:
○ 2 funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR)
