Dear friends,

There is now an opportunity for a 2-year post-doc on Forecasting of water variables in the SMHI Hydrology R&D team:

http://web103.reachmee.com/ext/I011/1056/main?site=8&validator=991c4fb3061ea054e09848134790b230&lang=UK&rmpage=job&rmjob=262

The post-doc will analyze forecasts of various hydro-meteorological variables and apply different pre- and post-processing methods (i.e. bias-adjustments, multi-modelling averaging, ensemble sub-selection, model output statistics, and machine learning) to improve their skill. These forecasts have applications in early warning services and climate services that we provide or asked to setup. Other interests include impact assessment of forecasts on different sectors, data assimilation of earth observations and in-situ data, and communication practices for an improved service uptake.

Our existing projects focus on large scale applications i.e. national scale (Sweden), continental (Europe) and global, and funds come from different sources, i.e. national research councils, EC Horizon 2020, Copernicus, WMO etc.

Please do not hesitate to forward this email to candidate(s) that could potentially be interested, and also do not hesitate to contact me for further info.

Please be safe and stay healthy.

Best wishes,

Ilias
