I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

  • Are you currently legally authorised to work in the US and interested in/already working in Atlanta, Georgia?

  • Do you have a Master’s or PhD in Earth Sciences, Engineering, Maths, Physics or similar?

  • Do you have a number of years’ experience working in catastrophe modelling as either a user or developer of catastrophe models?

If you meet all of the above criteria, then my client, a global insurance company, would be keen to speak to you.

I am recruiting for a Natural Hazards Risk Consultant, to be based in Atlanta, Georgia.  You will be working in the Risk Consulting division within a department dedicated to delivering risk consulting services to some 2000 clients, in conjunction with account consultants, risk engineers and business developers.  They manage a range of projects, and have recently had a significant volume of client requests, and are therefore seeking a resource in order to continue to successfully deliver to clients.

This role will be the first of its kind within the Atlanta team (although there are a network of Natural Hazard Consultants globally), and therefore you must be prepared to work relatively autonomously.  You must have solid catastrophe modelling skills (as a user or developer) in either flood, earthquake and/or windstorm risks.  The candidate will be tasked to deliver portfolio Cat modelling and site-specific desk modelling studies for clients, including but not limited to:

  • Natural hazard risk portfolio mapping,
  • Portfolio cat loss modelling,
  • Natural hazard site-specific risk engineering,
  • Business Development
  • Developing risk modelling tools for windstorm, hurricane and flood
  • Contribute to developing a worldwide applicable cat modelling framework

It’s important to specify that the pure development of Cat models is not within this remit.

You must also be prepared to travel to clients around 3 times per month.

Skills required:

  • A number of years’ experience within catastrophe modelling, probably at, but not limited to a reinsurer, model vendor or Broking firm
  • High level of proficiency in data mining
  • Proficient programming skills in Python, R or Java etc
  • Knowledge of Data Science technologies including AI, Machine Learning, IoT etc

Base salary is $competitive, with a full benefits package including bonus, healthcare, pension etc.  A full job specification is available which I will be happy to share.

Application Process:

Please apply with your CV, contact details and suggestion of a good time for me to call you, at Claire@bolton-associates.co.uk
