The Centre for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (JLU), Germany, invites applications for a part-time position to the extent of 80 % full-time equivalent for a
Postdoctoral Scientist/Research Scientist
The position is funded through the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) project Climate Change and Extremes Events (ClimXtreme) Module C: Impacts of extreme weather and climate events on natural and socio-economic system / CROP (uni-giessen.de/zeu/CROP) and is available from the earliest date until February 28th, 2023. The salary of the position is determined by payment group E 13 according to the collective labor agreement of the State of Hesse (TV-H).

The applicant should develop an integrated approach of statistical and process-based crop models with the aim to establish an agro-climatic service by combining with seasonal climate forecast. Finally, the postdoctoral researcher in collaboration with the researchers of the BMBF funded collaborative project NUKLEUS that runs in parallel is expected to work on bias-correction and stochastic downscaling of climate predictions and projections to appropriate spatio-temporal scales. Presentation of the results in conferences and peer-reviewed publications together with participation in the project management, and coordination with the ClimXtreme partners and project reporting belong to the work tasks.
The successful candidate will join a small international and interdisciplinary team working on various aspects of past, present and future climate change and impacts across the Europe and the Mediterranean. The group is attached to the applied development and environmental research oriented interdisciplinary Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) at the Justus-Liebig-University (https://www.uni-giessen.de/zeu).
