The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Research Scientist to join the Chemistry and Climate Processes group of the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratories/Chemical Sciences Laboratory (ESRL/CSL). The selected candidate will work in close cooperation with the research staff of CIRES and ESRL/CSD using climate models and measurements to understand the impacts of trends and variability in stratospheric aerosols. A key goal is to improve our understanding of driving mechanisms controlling the distribution of stratospheric aerosol and the subsequent impact of stratospheric aerosol variability on the temperature and chemistry of the upper troposphere and stratosphere.
