Dear all, a 3-year research position (predoc, 75%) is open at the Institute of Meteorology at the Freie Universität Berlin in the framework of the ClimXtreme project. The aim of the sub-project "Impacts of winter storms in Central Europe" is to identify meteorological (pre-)conditions relevant for the impacts of winter storms in the present and future climate. Statistical impact models are applied and developed using building, forest and infrastructure damage data. Closing date for applications: 5. May 2020Requirements: MSc in meteorology, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
Desired:- Experience in the evaluation of meteorological observational and model data - Experience in the application of statistical models and other machine learning methods (e.g. random forest)
- Experience in running regional model simulations- Experience in working with Linux systems and statistical software (e.g. "R")
