The Atmospheric Sciences and Global Change Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a motivated postdoctoral research associate that will contribute to our Integrated Cloud, Land-surface, and Aerosol System Study (ICLASS) project team supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Atmospheric System Research (ASR) program (see https://asr.science.energy.gov for more information). The selected candidate will work with Dr. John Shilling and is expected to discover new scientific insights on processes influencing the formation, growth, and fate of secondary organic aerosols using laboratory chamber experiments and field measurements. This information will be used by other team members to develop new model treatments of key processes. We also expect the candidate to define their own research objectives and strategy.
The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in collecting and analyzing measurements from mass spectrometer instruments (e.g. AMS) and other instruments that characterize particle chemical properties. The candidate should also have an interest in developing instruments with enhanced capabilities of measuring aerosol properties and their precursors.
