Please find attached an announcement for several PhD Students and Research Assistants positions embedded in the new European Marie Sklodowska-Curie ITN (Innovative Training Network) "Train2Wind" at the Environmental Physics group at the University of Tübingen, Germany.Within Train2Wind, the Environmental Physics group at the University of Tübingen, Germany, studies the turbulent atmospheric flow in and around off-shore wind farms using small automatically operating unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Our main interests are the turbulent energy and momentum exchange, the interaction of atmospheric turbulence with wind turbines, and the aerosol-particle transport near wind parks. For our UAS, we develop fast meteorological sensors, calibration methods, and software for data analysis.
With a network of 12 PhDs and 8 short-term fellows, Train2Wind will investigate the entrainment process using advanced high-resolution computer and wind tunnel modelling together with measurements of the wind field above, inside and downstream of large wind farms, using lidars, radars and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in cooperation with our Train2Wind partners in Denmark, Norway, and Switzerland
