Research activities:Our research addresses atmospheric boundary layer processes (microscale) and their coupling to the larger scale atmosphere (mesoscale, macroscale). We focus on land surface-atmosphere interactions and regional climate change applying a broad range of methodologies (in-situ measurements, GIS / remote sensing, numerical modeling). For this purpose, the working group operates its own measuring systems and has its own IT infrastructure. We offer the opportunity to become part of an international team, to participate in international and interdisciplinary research and to independently and creatively shape the working group in the field of energy, water and carbon balance in science and education. We support scientists to unfold their potential, to develop their professional and personal skills and to pursue their career.
Responsibilities:The tasks include teaching, especially in the studies 'Environmental and Resource Management' (BSc & MSc) as well as scientific services within the research focus of the working group, especially the establishment of eddy covariance measurements and related meteorological measurement methods with a focus on energy, water and carbon fluxes.
Requirements:The successful candidate hold a scientific degree (university Diploma / Master / equivalent) as well as a PhD in the study field of Geography or related environmental sciences with the focus on Climatology, Meteorology or equivalent. Fundamental knowledge in the application of eddy covariance measurement technique and / or related measurement techniques and very strong motivation for field research are required. Additionally, very good knowledge in statistics, solid programming skills in at least one programming language of higher order (C, Fortran, Java, Python) as well as experiences in data analyses are required. Experiences with UAV-based imagery as well as the application of numerical models is desirable. The ability to work in a team as well as very good spoken and written English skills are prerequisites.
