[Met-jobs] Graduate student opportunities in Meteorology & Climate Science at San Jose State University

Dear prospective grad students,

Up to six (8) graduate assistant positions (MS) are available for the the 
2020-2021 academic year in the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science at 
San José State University (http://www.sjsu.edu/meteorology). Enthusiastic and 
motivated students with BS degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences or 
related fields are encouraged to apply. Research topics include 
— Sundowner Winds Experiment (Craig Clements)
— Dual-Pol Radar Observations of wildfire plumes (Craig Clements)
— Utilities fire weather (Craig Clements)
— On the topic of wind, solar & temperature variability with regard to their 
impact on future renewable energy systems (Patrick Brown)
— Improving the understanding of ice and mixed phase clouds using 
aircraft-based in-situ observations and global climate model simulations 
(Minghui Diao) 
— Mars general circulation models (MGCMs) to search for circulation 
characteristics that can explain observations from various satellite missions 
(Alison Bridger) 
— Total Lighting climatology in Caribbean region (Sen Chiao)
— Precipitation Forecasts of Landfalling Tropical Cyclones (Sen Chiao)

In addition to Graduate Research Assistant positions, some possible Teaching 
Assistant (TA) opportunities are available.
Applicants who are interested in the position are encouraged to contact 
individual professor in the department. Applications for admission only should 
be submitted no later than April 1st. To be fully considered for a research or 
teaching assistantship, full application must be submitted no later than 
January 15, 2020.
