Deimos Space SRL is looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Microwave Remote Sensing Engineer to work in the field of microwave remote sensing using GNSS-Reflectometry and Satellite Radar Altimetry.
The engineer will be working on a variety of projects within the company, which involve a) the development of Level 2 retrieval algorithms for estimation of parameters over ocean, land and ice using GNSS-R and Radar Altimetry data, b) support to the development of a GPS-scattering simulator for ship detection from GNSS-R, and c) Support to the development of operational Level 2 processors for forthcoming missions with a GNSS-Reflectometry component.
The engineer will also be involved in the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and scientific publications when appropriate. The engineer will join a small but rapidly growing and dynamic remote sensing team at Deimos Space UK, and is expected to actively contribute to the success and expansion of the team itself.
In return, Deimos will offer a competitive salary, a highly stimulating work environment, and the perspective of hiring the successful candidate on a permanent basis in the short term.

Main Duties:
  • Development of Level 2 retrieval algorithms and validation approaches for the estimation of geophysical parameters from Spaceborne GNSS-Reflectometry and Radar Altimetry data;
  • Support to the development of electromagnetic scattering simulations, for Earth Observation and target detection;
  • Preparation of technical documentation such as technical notes or reports;
  • Generation of scientific publications as a result of the work performed;
  • Contribution to the preparation of scientific proposals;

Education:
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Telecommunications.

Professional Experience:
At least three years of experience in Microwave Remote Sensing (PhD or industrial experience);
Previous experience in developing simulations or analysing data in the field of GNSS-Reflectometry or Radar Altimetry is considered an asset;
Some experience in the development of Level 2 retrieval algorithms, electromagnetic simulations in general, and operational Level 2 processors is desirable;
The interest and motivation in working in the field of microwave remote sensing will also be valued.

Technical Requirements:
ESSENTIAL
  • Knowledge of Microwave Remote Sensing, active or passive;
  • Knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python language;
  • Experience in Satellite Data Processing and Analysis;
  • Ability to travel to project meetings and conferences within and outside of the UK when needed;

DESIRABLE
  • Experience in GNSS-Reflectometry and Radar Altimetry;
