A PDRA position is open at the University of Reading in the Meteorology Department on:

Atmospheric dispersion modelling
We invite applications for a PDRA to undertake exciting and innovative research as part of the DARE-UK (Detection and Attribution of Regional greenhouse gas Emissions in the UK https://dareuk.blogs.bristol.ac.uk/

) consortium project.  The aim of DARE-UK is to estimate greenhouse gas emissions to improve the accuracy of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory reports. This will allow us to understand better whether we are meeting our emission reduction targets. The focus of this role will be on improving the representation of turbulence in atmospheric dispersion models, which are vital for linking greenhouse gas emissions with atmospheric observations at 5 tall-tower sites across the UK and Ireland.  You will need the ability to understand and interrogate complex atmospheric models and the enthusiasm to exploit links with other members of the consortium.  For more information on the project please contact Dr Helen Dacre (h.f.dacre@reading.ac.uk).

PDRA profile: Applicants should have, or shortly expect to obtain, a PhD in atmospheric science or closely related subject; the ability to write and adapt computer programs and analyse model output; experience with writing research papers and giving conference presentations; the ability to collaborate constructively and proactively with both internal and external collaborators.

Funding particulars: This is a 24-month position at Grade 6 (30,942 – 40,322 per annum) funded by NERC

Start date: Application deadline 25 November 2019.  Start date as soon as possible.

How to apply: Applicants can find more information and apply here https://jobs.reading.ac.uk/displayjob.aspx?jobid=5774
