Research Data Management Specialist

The Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) at Penn State has an immediate opening for a Research Data Management Specialist, Level 1, to provide support for research, education and outreach activities funded by Penn State as well as multiple state and federal agencies. Duties include creating and modifying software codes in support of research, education and outreach activities; creating and modifying research datasets; documenting software codes in datasets; and generating publication-quality figures.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience includes GIS software; Linux-based computation environments; or programming languages such as R, Python, GAMS, Julian Matlab, C/C++, or Fortran. Familiarity with issues related to climate hazards, particularly coastal and/or inland flooding is also preferred. The successful candidate will be able to develop interactive websites and have experience with manipulation and analysis of large datasets, particularly involving Earth system or economic data.
