Call for Applications - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology-University of Melbourne Joint PhD program

 

The University of Melbourne and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) run in close research cooperation in the field of climate, environment and energy research. We are pleased to announce that scholarships are available for joint PhD candidates who will work on one of the specified topics within the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) - University of Melbourne program. 

 

We are welcoming applications for PhD candidates to be based at the Graduate School for Climate and Environment at KIT, who will spend at least twelve months at the Australian-German Climate and Energy College at the University of Melbourne. The deadline for applications is Monday 9 September 2019. The successful candidates are scheduled to enrol by 31 December 2019.

 

The PhD topics open for applications are:

  • Probabilistic modelling of climatic change for hail, flood, temperature scenarios
  • Economic risk to residential energy systems
  • Connection of the transition to sustainable urban development with smart cities, sensor/big data and their implications
  • Remunicipalization of energy: implications for urban climate governance
  • Comparing institutional frames to establish an integrated urban water-energy management system
  • Future urban mobility concepts facing changing demand patterns

GRACE is the Graduate School for PhD students of the KIT-Center Climate and Environment at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). It is the goal of GRACE to provide to its students not only highly specialized and interdisciplinary knowledge but also important key skill qualifications. 

 

The Climate & Energy College is an international team of early career researchers. The College conducts climate and energy systems research in an interdisciplinary environment, advancing knowledge and informing responses to the complex challenges of climate change.
