The Environment Agency is looking for a dynamic and technically gifted scientist to lead some of their research relating to on-shore oil and gas (OOG). You should have specialist knowledge of the challenges posed by the oil and gas industries in relation to air quality and be able to provide sound scientific advice to specialist and non-specialist audiences. The role demands strong numerical and interpersonal skills with extensive experience in air quality science but also someone willing to use their expertise across discipline boundaries. The role underpins the work being undertaken by the EA to understand and assess the potential risks from OOG activity. The EA work in this area covers projects and collaborations nationally and internationally and across government, academia and industry to develop the underpinning evidence required by the EA, Defra and BEIS. You will have the scientific authority to represent the Agency’s position to a range of audiences including government officials, scientific meetings, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders. The role requires strategic thinking regarding future activities that will be required as the OOG activities develop and identification of partnerships and potential avenues of funding.
