Salary will start at £36,684 with opportunities to progress within the role up to the maximum of £40,352.

meeting the twin challenges of forecasting the weather and understanding and planning for a changing climate. These services are delivered to a huge range of customers from the government, commercial businesses, the general public, the Ministry of Defence
and other organisations.
We are looking for an engaging, enthusiastic, collaborative and motivated person to join our Product Management Team. The Met Office has a long history of supporting the Defence sector and the Ministry of Defence remain a core customer. We produce a variety
of products that utilise our weather science to produce customer specific forecasts, supporting operational decision-making and safety. You will be responsible for developing weather products that meet the needs of Defence customers and users. You will use
your knowledge of Defence users and customers to lead and drive developments and manage lifecycles effectively, delivering strategic benefit. You will be able to influence and negotiate with internal stakeholders, building strong relationships with customers
and users that drives business benefit.
The Product Owner is responsible for researching, analysing and understanding user requirements – ratifying them against the product vision and customer milestones before ‘translating’ into user stories for technical teams. You will own and prioritise the
work of the development team, including articulating development acceptance criteria to ensure the work reflects user needs and business benefit. You will ensure that the products that you develop and manage align with strategic direction for the Defence portfolio,
and influence this through the Senior Product Manager.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Defence users and customers, and use these to develop Defence knowledge to support product development and management.
Research and analyse user and customer requirements, translating into user stories for the development team.
As Product Owner, act as a key member of the Agile delivery team to challenge and improve ways of working, to deliver effective solutions.
Maximise the value delivered in a development -taking into account the balance between delivering business benefits and responding to end user needs.
Manage dependencies of a development on other directly/indirectly related systems or products.
Understand how your product portfolio is performing both in relation to customer expectations and competitor offerings to inform lifecycle development decisions.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills and an ability to manage diverse stakeholders and customers ways of working
Sound decision-making ability, with demonstrable experience of balancing competing drivers to achieve successful outcomes
Practical experience of successfully researching andunderstanding customer/user requirements and how they relate to business strategy
Understanding of the Product Owner role and the ability to inspire Agile development teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to define direction for a development and ensure it is aligned with wider objectives or strategy
Understanding of the Defence sector and how the weather impacts our military customers
Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
Experience of operating within a SCRUM/Agile environment
