Dear all,

Here’s a new job announcement for a WRF-modeling specialist at Meteomatics in Sankt-Gallen (Switzerland):

Who are we?

We are a young company that keeps itself busy with asking a question you have been asking yourself as well: How will the weather be?
As of now, our team consists of almost 30 people who all together are looking for the answer. Since good weather forecasts aren't enough for us, we have developed a weather drone, the so called Meteodrone and we are currently building up a drone network to collect weather data.

Who are we looking for?

You like to work independently? You're not scared of being a trailblazer and doing things differently? You want to make a change and you have your head full of ideas?
If you additionally have a good understanding of UAVs and their system components or you're experienced in High Perfomance Computing, C++ or the development of forecast systems and you're interested in weather, well then, we are looking for YOU!


Your responsibilities

  • Develop forecasting systems
  • Operation of high-resolution WRF models on high performance computers
  • Initialization by means of ECMWF data
  • Assimilation of weather station and -balloon data, as well as radar and satellite data
  • New assimilation of our Meteodrone systems

Your qualifications

  • Keen for new challenges
  • Task oriented worker
  • Job-related experiences
  • Object-oriented programming
  • Solid knowledge in Linux/Unix, programming languages C++ and Fortran and experience in Shell and Python scripting are mandatory
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure
