Sorry for cross-posting.

Postdoctoral Position in Modelling Plant Hydraulics and Mortality (INRA Nancy,
France)

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in developing
plant hydraulics and hydraulic failure in combination with carbon starvation in
the multi-layer, multi-species ecosystem and mechanistic model MuSICA.

The research integrates into two projects: 1. the ERA-NET project ForRisk,
studying the interactions between interactive effects of drought and tree
density on the resistance and resilience of Norway spruce and silver fir growth
and productivity; and 2. the German DFG project Cistoak, studying the impact of
recurrent extreme drought events and shrub invasion on Mediterranean cork-oak
ecosystem functioning and resilience.

ForRisk combines researchers from the NFZ.forestnet that connects six research
institutions from Zurich (Switzerland), Freiburg (Germany) and Nancy (France).
Cistoak combines researchers from Karlsruhe, Freiburg (Germany) and Nancy
(France) and works in close collaboration with a sister project in Portugal.
The postdoc will work closely with the other partner institutions, helping with
field campaigns (Portugal), and working with the main developer of the MuSICA
model (J Ogée) and plant hydraulics specialists (J-C Domec) in Bordeaux. MuSICA
is written in Fortran, and hence strong programming skills are required.

The position is based at INRA Nancy (France) in the Joint Research Unit (UMR
1434) Silva. It is for the duration of 1+1 years, starting as soon as possible.
Salary level will correspond to the “Chargé de Recherches” level.

Applications to Matthias Cuntz (matthias (dot) cuntz (at) inra.fr) should
include a CV, the publication list, a letter of motivation, as well as
telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of possible references. Applications
will be accepted until the position is filled.
