UCLA Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences seeks postdoctoral scholars in Climate and Atmospheric dynamics, for positions supervised by Prof. Rong Fu and Prof. Gang Chen.  One position will be in the area of mid-latitude dynamics and predictability of cold season rainfall, involving a combination of observational analysis, analyzing climate models and statistical prediction.  Another position will be in the area of large-scale atmospheric dynamics and transport.  The goal of the project is to understand large-scale atmospheric transport and mixing, how the atmospheric circulation may respond to future climate change, and the implications for extreme weather events, using a combination of observations, theory, and/or idealized and comprehensive modeling.  The positions are available immediately.  Each position would initially be for one year, but renewable for up to two years, contingent upon satisfactory progress.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences or a related field, effective oral and written communication skills, and strong programming and analytical skills.  Applicants should submit a complete CV, including a list of refereed publications and contact information for three references. These materials should be addressed to Rong Fu <rfu@atmos.ucla.edu> and Gang Chen <gchenpu@atmos.ucla.edu>.  For more about Prof. Fu and Prof Chen's research activities, visit https://dept.atmos.ucla.edu/rongfu and http://gchenpu.com/.
