Project Manager (WM-Air: The West Midlands Air Quality Project)
University of Birmingham

An enthusiastic and self-motivated Project Manager is sought to join a new air 
pollution research project, WM-Air (the West Midlands Air Quality Improvement 
Programme).  WM-Air is a five-year project to apply environmental science 
research expertise to improve air quality in the West Midlands, delivering 
health, economic and environmental benefits.  This high-profile project is led 
by the University of Birmingham, in collaboration with over 20 local partners 
providing direct and in-kind input, supported by a £5m funding award from the

The Project Manager, based in the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental 
Sciences, will report to the WM-Air PI (Professor William Bloss) and support 
other project staff, providing organisational support and management for 
overall project delivery and day-to-day activities, including progress 
monitoring, reporting, budgetary oversight, and the successful delivery of 
project outputs. The role will include co-ordinating the efforts of ca. 12 
staff based within the University and across partner organisations, including 
the West Midlands Combined Authority, local authorities, consultancies and 
industry bodies, and supervising work of the project administrative support 
officer.  The role will also include representation of the project, developing 
and maintaining relationships with external partners.

Full time, fixed term for 4.5 years
Starting salary is normally in the range of £30,395 to £39,609.
