POST TITLE: ICTP-SIO Climate Modelling Scientists (2 Positions)

These positions are part of a collaboration between ICTP and SIO/IOOC. The
main tasks are the development of (i) a hierarchy of global coupled
climate models and (ii) Indian Ocean S2S-type prediction system based on a
global coupled ocean-atmosphere model.
The funding of the project is provided by the Indian-Ocean Operational   
Oceanographic Centre (IOOC) of the Second Institute of Oceanography,
China.

Essential responsibilities of the Positions:
* Carry out research in the fields of climate modelling and prediction;
* Contribute to the development of modelling and prediction system for
Indian-Ocean Operational Oceanographic Centre;
* Cooperate with research staff at ICTP and IOOC;
* Document the results of the research in journal publications, and
publicize those results in seminars and conference or workshop
presentations.



ORGANIZATION: Jointly by the Abdus Salam International Centre for
Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy and Indian-Ocean Operational
Oceanographic Centre (IOOC) of the Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO),
Hangzhou China.

JOB LOCATION: These positions will be mainly located at ICTP, Trieste,
Italy and partly in Hangzhou, China. The period of working in Hangzhou
will be negotiated together with the successful candidates.

ANNUAL SALARY: ICTP Standard Salary, depending on qualifications and
experience of the candidates, from post-doc to scientist level.

EXPECTED START DATE AND CONTRACT PERIOD: Around September 2019, 2 years
and extendable.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: The application will be open until the positions are
filled.

Required Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, or related fields.
* At least 2 years of experience in Climate modelling/prediction.
* Ability to work in a multicultural environment as part of a team.
