*********************************************************************

Environmental and climate change require fundamental interdisciplinary, international research to better understand processes, to improve scenarios and reduce uncertainties and make available more and reliable data for adaptation to the new conditions, and the study of impacts and their mitigation. Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (JLU) and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) have joined forces to train a new generation of researchers who are experts in their field and at the same time have a broader knowledge to understand the overall picture of the coupled environment-climate system.

Scientists from the two universities joined with renowned international experts, focus on the Mediterranean basin and share their knowledge and expertise to educate and train postgraduates at the International Summer School “Climate Change Impacts on the MED Agro-Food Chain” that takes place 9-14 September 2019 at the Schloss Rauischholzhausen, in Hessen, Germany.

The summer school discusses, among others:

- climate change impacts on regional farming systems

- emergent risks, opportunities and adaptation

- food security and sustainable food production

- agricultural policy and economy

- climate models and crop modelling

International young researchers (master and doctoral students as well as young postdocs) from the broader climate, agriculture, nutrition, social sciences, economics, geography and relevant disciplines are welcome to participate to the school. Research posters and projects, amble time for discussion and interaction, together with excursions to organic farms and experimental sites complete the school’s curriculum.

!!!!! Application deadline: 2nd June 2019 !!!!!

Registration fee: 150 EUR (covers accommodation, meals and reading material).

Information and application available at: <http://www.uni-giessen.de/zeu/summerschool>
