The School of Geography Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Birmingham is part of an exciting new research programme which is looking to build a network of urban observatories across the UK (Newcastle, Bristol, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham and Cranfield).
We are looking for a research technician to help us develop the meteorological component of the Birmingham Urban Observatory, looking after a re-imagined version of the Birmingham Urban Climate Laboratory and extending it’s measurement capabilities. The post-holder will be responsible for a range of tasks related to meteorological monitoring. In particular, the role will include calibrating and deploying new sensors (from high-end instrumentation to managed crowdsourced datafeeds) as well as the routine maintenance of existing equipment.
