The Atmospheric Dispersion Modelling Group is seeking an enthusiastic IT Engineer to support the group in various international and domestic projects and tasks related to developing, testing, installing, configuring and troubleshooting air quality modelling software in various environments.

This position suits a person who is looking for new challenges and enjoy working as a part of a team. 

Key responsibilities :
- setting up, configuring and maintaining the operational applications of SILAM in high-performance computing environment, including setup of automated environment, preparation of input data, execution of the simulations, basic post-processing, distribution and presentation of the simulation results in a fully automated manner
- installing the models SILAM & EnFuser for users outside FMI, both under Windows and Linux
- handling the user requests and questions
- eventually, performing basic computations with standard SILAM and EnFuser setups responding to user queries

Candidates must have at least a B.Sc. in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, physics, mathematics or other related field). Furthermore, a successful candidate must meet the following essential criteria: 

- experience with both Windows and Linux; ability to perform configuration of the working environment for these platforms and installation of the supplementary packages and libraries 
- proven capability to manage Python and Shell scripting
- at least basic knowledge on high-performance computing, task scheduling and time-critical applications 
- at least basic knowledge of Fortran and Java 
- familiar with basics of network configuration 
- good communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- written and spoken fluency in English, and willingness to work internationally 
- ability to travel if needed (including longer visits abroad) 

Other desirable qualifications are: 
- experience in handling large data sets 
- at least basic understanding of atmospheric physics and chemistry 
- at least basic skills in data analysis and interpretation
- good knowledge of Fortran and Java
- familiar with basics of web design 
- experience on working in international projects
