Postdoc in Planetary Climate Dynamics
A postdoc in climate dynamics is available at the University of Exeter to work with Professor Geoffrey Vallis. The successful candidate will perform theoretical and computational studies into the nature of extreme climates on Earth and other terrestrial planets. These studies may include, for example, research into the nature of the equable climates of the early Eocene, or the nature of the hydrology cycle on slowly rotating planetary bodies such as Titan, or the interaction of a planetary atmosphere with its ocean. The work will involve using a hierarchy of models of planetary climates, ranging from the near comprehensive to highly idealized. The overall goal is to set Earth's climate in the context of planetary climates more generally, learning lessons that may be applicable to Earth's future climate. The position is available in early 2019 for a period of two years. The closing date for applications is January 14, 2019.
The successful candidate will have a PhD and a strong background in climate dynamics and/or geophysical fluid dynamics or a related subject. Experience in numerical modelling is desirable but not necessary. For further information please contact Prof Vallis at firstname.lastname@example.org. Further details are available at
I look forward to hearing from you!
