Hello everyone,

we - the Institute of Meteorology of the Freie Universitaet Berlin
(GERMANY) - http://www.geo.fu-berlin.de/en/met/index.html - need a
research associate / programmer (1/2 time) from now on until 30.06.2020.

The research activity of the institute focuses on analysis and
prediction of atmospheric conditions. A big part of this work is part of
national and international research projects. Examples: MiKlip
(www.fona-miklip.de) and CMIP6 (http://wcrp-climate.org/wgcm-cmip/wgcm-cmip6).

Work description:
As part of the major project which provides the German task of the data
base for the next report of the IPCC, this project will develop a
gateway to evaluation results and central validations of the CMIP6 data 
(http://cmip-eval.dkrz.de).
The hybrid web and shell evaluation system of the Freie University Berlin-
Freva (freva.klimod.de) - will be extended and specialized, depending on
projects needs (annotation system, gallery features, structering of
results, etc...).

Requirements:
University degree (Master or equivalent) in Meteorology, within Natural
Science, Computer Science, or similar fields.

Work experience:
Experience in the field of climate model data
Knowledge in the field of software development and
implementation of web technologies

Desirable:
Computer coding experience (Python, PHP, Web, etc.)
Knowledge in XML, data base systems, content management systems,
High Performance Computers (Unix/Linux) and Bash!
Will to work cooperative in a team

Language: English, German is a plus

Salary:
Within the German public sector salary E13 - 1/2 time, depending on work 
experience (level)
