Please forward this announcement to potential candidates.
There is a vacancy for a PhD position at the Geophysical Institute, at the University of Bergen, within the field of Climate Dynamics. The position is for a fixed-term period of 4 years with 25% compulsory work (e.g. teaching duties). It is connected to the Bjerknes Climate Prediction Unit that focuses on predicting climate in the Atlantic-to-Arctic sector and surrounding continents on seasonal to decadal time scales.
The PhD will identify to what extent ocean heat and freshwater anomalies are communicated along the Gulf Stream’s extension toward the Arctic. This includes assessment of ocean predictability, with a special emphasis on the exchange between the subpolar North Atlantic and the Norwegian Sea.
The research work for this vacancy will be done in close collaboration with the team developing the Norwegian Climate Prediction Model at the Bjerknes Climate Prediction Unit.
Please see the announcement below for additional details.
Thank you very much for sharing this information.
