Postdoctoral position in MJO and regional coupled modeling at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and independent atmospheric scientist for a postdoctoral position at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The postdoc will work with a team of PIs on a NOAA-funded project as a part of the Year of Maritime Convection (YMC), the goal of which is to understand the role of upper ocean processes over the Maritime Continent (MC) in the simulation and prediction of diurnal to intraseasonal tropical convective variability including the MJO.
The candidate should have strong skill in the WRF model and have expertise in tropical meteorology. She/he will design and conduct the SCOAR regional ocean-atmosphere coupled model (WRF to ROMS) experiments with explicit convection over the MC region to examine how the air-sea coupled processes arising from oceanic processes including coastal upwelling, barrier layer/salinity stratification, tidal mixing, and diurnal SST variability influence the diurnal to intraseasonal rainfall variability. The postdoc is expected to closely collaborate with the PIs at NOAA and Texas A&M Corpus Christi as well as the broader YMC and PISTON observational and modeling community.
Interested applicants should contact Dr. Hyodae Seo (firstname.lastname@example.org). Online application forms should be submitted with a cover letter, complete curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation. Applications will be reviewed upon submission
· As deemed necessary by supervisor
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
