Postdoctoral Research Position: Exploitation of new Biomass Burning Earth Observation Datasets

We wish to appoint a talented and highly motivated scientist to work within the research team of Professor Martin Wooster on the exploitation of new satellite EO datasets related to landscape fire and biomass burning emissions (FRP, AOD, atmospheric constituents, vegetation condition, burned area etc).  Applicants must be experienced in working with EO data, have experience in studying biomass burning and its impacts, be able to write well documented shareable computer code (ideally in Python), and have demonstrable skills in planning, executing and writing up high quality scientific studies. This post will focus on use of EO data products, not development of new products. Experience in linking EO data to models is advantageous but not mandatory, and the successful candidate will lead on some studies and contribute to others. The post is open to applicants from outside the EU as well as within the UK and EU, and those without a PhD but who will submit their thesis by Oct 2018 will be considered. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the National Center for Earth Observation (NCEO), and will help delivering National Capability in Earth Observation science to the UK's Natural Environment Research Council.

This post will be Fixed Term, for 24 months in the first instance. For more information and to apply please visit the following link and register to download and submit the specified application form:
