We are advertising a position in the Department of Meteorology and the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, at University of Reading, UK, for a postdoctoral research associate. The job is to make refined projections of 21st-century ocean heat uptake and circulation change, in order to reduce uncertainty in the consequent global and regional sea level rise, which is among the most severe consequences of anthropogenic climate change. This work forms part of the TICTOC project, funded by a grant from the Natural Environment Research Council, involving several collaborating UK institutions. The aim of the project is to constrain and compare AOGCM simulations with observational data for the uptake of passive tracers within the ocean, using novel analytical techniques and model experiments. The starting salary is £29,799 to £38,833. It is a fixed-term post of three years (or less if appointed at a high salary in the range). The closing date for applications is 28th June 2018, and interviews are planned for 5th July. We would like the job-holder to take up the post within the next few months. Jonathan Gregory will be the line manager, and welcomes informal enquiries about the post to firstname.lastname@example.org. Further information and instructions for application can be found at https://jobs.reading.ac.uk/displayjob.aspx?jobid=3180
