An exciting opportunity for a Weather Modelling Manager has arisen at a market leading UK home insurer, to model weather events such as windstorm and flood and make a real difference to the business. Modelling these events in detail is extremely complex and subject to many uncertainties and there is a need to offer customers, investors, colleagues and regulators the assurance that all of these complexities are understood and as accurate as possible in the models.
My client is looking for an individual with a PhD in hydrology or a related discipline, with working experience of developing or working with flood models, to join a team of 5 consisting of meteorologists and hydrologists. The new incumbent must have an inclination towards people management in the future.
Knowledge of a programming language is needed, with R knowledge beneficial.
The role is ideally to be based in Leeds, but an agile working arrangement will certainly be considered if the new incumbent cannot relocate.
The salary on offer is up to £77,000 depending on experience with 15% bonus, pension etc.
