The elusive BVOC: mapping atmospheric isoprene from space
Supervisors: Dr Michael Barkley, Dr Jeremy Harrison, Dr David Moore
Funding: College of Science and Engineering, University of Leicester
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship at the University of Leicester to commence in September 2018. This novel project aims to measure the concentrations of atmospheric isoprene from satellite for the first time. Isoprene, which is emitted from vegetation and a precursor of tropospheric ozone and secondary organic aerosols, accounts for nearly half of the emissions of all biogenic volatile organic compounds. The successful student will be based in the Earth Observation Science (EOS) group within the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and will be affiliated to the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO). Full details of the project, including how to apply, can be found here:
The deadline for applications is 11 April.
Please contact Dr Michael Barkley firstname.lastname@example.org if you require any further information.
