PhD Full-Time Studentship on

Interactions between Regional and Global Scale Circulation Patterns over Asia and Implications for High Air pollution Events

This three years full time studentship provides tuition fees as well as a tax-free maintenance allowance of £14,553 per year and is open to UK/EU candidates

The studentship will focus on understanding the connections between regional and global scale atmospheric flows and their influence on local weather and air pollution events over the Asian region. The PhD project will support an ongoing NERC funded research project on improving our knowledge of meteorological and long term climate drivers affecting atmospheric composition over south Asia subcontinent. Studies will be conducted based on numerical simulations at higher spatial resolution over Asia, supported with available observations, to examine the expected changes in regional-global meteorological patterns over Asia and how these will impact on regional air quality (e.g. PM2.5, Ozone, NOx).  This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student to work in a dynamic research area. For your application to be considered you will have a good first degree in the physical sciences (e.g. meteorology, physics, mathematics) and possibly an MSc in an appropriate topic.

Please note that this studentship is only available to UK and EU Students
