The Mesoscale Meteorology and Climate Research Group at the Institute for 
Atmospheric and Environmental Research at the Goethe Univ. Frankfurt invites 
applications for a

PhD position “Island Climates with Coupled Convection Permitting Simulations“ 
(E13 TV-G-U, 36 months, 65%)


Your tasks:

·      Perform coupled convection permitting climate prediction simulations 
(with COSMO-CLM/NEMO)

·      Apply innovative analysis techniques to large datasets

·      Investigate small-scale air-sea coupling (within MedCORDEX.eu)

·      Interdisciplinary research in the H2020 project SOCLIMPACT 
(https://goo.gl/iC1E1A)


Your profile:

•  Master’s degree in meteorology, oceanography, physics, mathematics or a 
related field

•  Excellent computer and statistics skills

•  Very good written and oral communication skills in English (German is of 
advantage but not required)

•  An excellent capacity to publish scientific outputs

•  Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany 
(TV-G-U E13, 65%). The position is available from April, 1st 2018, and will be 
limited to a period of 36 months. Please send your application before March
