The School of Geography at the University of Nottingham (UK) is committed to being a globally leading centre for the creation, dissemination, and application of geographical knowledge and understanding. As part of this commitment, the School is delighted to announce a job vacancy at Associate Professor (Research and Teaching) level.

 

Applications from appropriately qualified candidates are welcomed across the broad areas listed below, one of which is climate risk. Applicants with expertise in climate risk may have experience in one, or several of: climate modelling; climate change impact assessment, e.g. for water resources, food security or human health; climate change adaptation; the economics of climate change; and climate change mitigation.

An Associate Professor will be expected to engage in research at an international level and to apply for external funding to enable development of new and independent research. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels within the School, including lectures, tutorials and the supervision of dissertations and project work. A range of administrative duties to support the operation of the School will also be undertaken.

 

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area or equivalent extensive professional/research experience. Applicants should have extensive research and teaching experience with an established national and growing international reputation in their field. It is essential that applicants have demonstrated success in obtaining funding and have an extensive track record of published research.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and asked to supply samples of their publications.

 

This is a full-time, permanent post and is available from 1 September 2018. Job share arrangements may be considered for this post.
