The School of Geography at the University of Nottingham (UK) is committed to being a globally leading centre for the creation, dissemination, and application of geographical knowledge and understanding. As part of this commitment, the School is delighted to announce three job vacancies at Assistant Professor (Research and Teaching) level.

 

Applications from appropriately qualified candidates are welcomed across the broad areas listed below, one of which is climate risk. Applicants with expertise in climate risk may have experience in one, or several of: climate modelling; climate change impact assessment, e.g. for water resources, food security or human health; climate change adaptation; the economics of climate change; and climate change mitigation.

  Sustainability Science

 

  Environmental Decision-Making and Stewardship

 

  Environmental Humanities

 

  Medical/Health Geography

 

  Urban Economy and Consumption

 

  The Digital Economy and Big Data

 

Assistant Professors will be expected to generate new intellectual understanding and to apply for external funding to enable development of new and independent research. The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels within the School, including lectures, tutorials and the supervision of dissertations and projectwork. A range of administrative duties to support the operation of the School will also be undertaken.

 

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area or equivalent extensive professional/research experience along with teaching experience in their field. It is essential that applicants have an extensive track record of high quality published research.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and asked to supply samples of their publications.

 

These full-time, permanent posts are available from 1 September 2018. Job share arrangements may be considered for these posts.
