As part of the COPERNICUS C3S funded activity "Access to CORDEX
simulations for the European domain" (CORDEX4CDS), the Meteorology Group
of the University of Cantabria is offering a position for a period of 2
years commencing as soon as possible.

CORDEX4CDS contributes to a new Copernicus service dedicated to the
provision and assessment of regional projections produced with regional
climate models (RCMs) for different emission scenarios. In particular,
it is concerned with providing technical solutions to access data from
existing RCM simulations and boundary conditions with future
experiments. The Group is involved in the work package to facilitate
access to boundary conditions from global climate models (GCM)
simulations needed for future regional projections.

The candidate’s duties will include research with regional climate
models, developing a seamless interface with global model data (e.g
CMIP5). Furthermore, activities will also involve reporting and
interaction with CORDEX4CDS partners as well as journal publication.

The candidate will have the following qualifications
- Experience with Python and Linux/Unix computer environments.
- Experience in processing climate data for scientific application.
- A University degree in meteorology, physics, computing or a closely
related field.

Moreover, the following qualifications would be beneficial:
- A Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline
- Experience in the field of regional and/or global climate modelling,
preferably experience with RCMs (in particular WRF).
- Experience in contributing (scientifically and organizationally) to
international scientific projects and networks, such as the CORDEX or
CMIP initiatives.
- Experience in communicating scientific results.

Inquiries about the position can be made to Prof. Antonio Cofiño by
email (<antonio.cofino@unican.es>). Please include "POSITION 2018-01" in
the subject and send curriculum vita, including complete publication
list and software development activities.

Terms of employment
The gross salary is on the range 30000€-40000€, depending on
qualification. Moving expenses will be covered up to 3000€.

The deadline for applications is 15 February 2018.
