Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Tropical Waves and High Impact Weather

We seek an enthusiastic research scientist to undertake research into the role of tropical waves in modulating high impact weather in Southeast Asia; to evaluate the representation of these waves and their relationship to high impact weather in Met Office operational forecast models; and develop new forecasting tools to support operational forecasting in Southeast Asia.

The post is available for an immediate start and we are keen to recruit someone who is able to start as soon as possible.

You will have:

·        A PhD in Atmospheric Science or related field,  or equivalent research experience

·        Strong skills in the analysis and interpretation of complex datasets

·        A knowledge of atmospheric dynamics

·        Good oral and written communication skills

The post will be held in the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading ( ), a vibrant centre for atmospheric and ocean science with 200 researchers. You will be a part of the Climate directorate of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science and a member of both the Dynamical Processes and Tropical Weather research groups. The project will involve close collaboration with partners at both the UK Met Office and National Met Services in the WCSSP Partner countries, and will require travel to these partners.
