Post-doctoral research positions in Aerosol, Cloud, Climate Interactions
We are looking for a postdoctoral researchers in the dynamic Climate Processes Group within the sub-Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics at the University of Oxford. The post is available immediately for a fixed-term period of 2.5 years.
This project will be at the forefront of uncertainty reduction in aerosol, cloud climate interactions, as part of the NERC Aerosol-Cloud Uncertainty REduction project (A-CURE), in collaboration with the University of Leeds and the MetOffice. This work will combine innovative perturbed physics ensembles with comprehensive observations to reduce uncertainty in aerosol radiative effects.
The successful candidates will work closely with national and international collaborators and are expected to develop innovative modelling approaches. The results should be presented at national and international meetings as well as published in high-impact publications. The ability and drive to work collaboratively, yet independently, as part of a team is essential. Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in in atmospheric modelling. Additional experience in the use of remote sensing and in-situ observations of aerosol and cloud parameters is of benefit.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate an excellent understanding of atmospheric physics, a strong background in atmospheric modelling and a demonstrated drive and ability to perform novel research of international standing.
