In the next months CNR-ISAC  (http://www.isac.cnr.it) is looking forward to open a  position in the framework of PRIMAVERA and CRESCENDO. This person will work in close collaboration with other scientists at our institute to support research in these projects and to contribute to CMIP6 activities.  The profile of the ideal candidate for this position includes the following:

Tasks:          

Preparing and running experiments with EC-Earth on different supercomputing facilities, including model tuning, data management, conversion, transfer and storage, implementation of diagnostic tools and contribution to the analysis of the experiments.

Necessary skills: 

experience with handling complex numerical models of the atmosphere and/or the ocean, from experiment setup to analysis. Scripting languages, standard tools for handling gridded datasets, data analysis and plotting tools.

Desirable: 

education and research experience in at least one of the following fields: climate dynamics, atmospheric or oceanic physics, geophysical fluid dynamics. Programming experience in Fortran or another high-level language, experience with handling General Circulation Model experiments, use of supercomputing facilities, managing netcdf and grib files. Experience in the use of EC-Earth would be an asset.

Working place: CNR-ISAC either at Torino or Bologna, Italy, TBD.
