The Departments of Geography at San Diego State University (SDSU) and at
University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) are seeking graduate
students who wish to pursue a doctorate degree in starting the Fall 2018.
Successful applicants will work with Dr. Fernando De Sales in climate
modeling projects to investigate the effects of natural and
anthropogenic land surface changes on climate and water resources.
Research topics include: wildfire, deforestation, land use, and climate
The position will be supported by the SDSU-UCSB Joint Doctorate Program
which awards PhD degrees by both Universities.
Student assistantship includes health and dental insurances,
registration and tuition fees, and a stipend.
Applicants must possess (or expect to possess by the Fall 2018) a Master
of Science (MS) degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Physical Geography, or a
Experience in climate data analysis and modeling is desired. Strong
skills in oral and written communication are also required. Students
will be expected to work both collaboratively and independently to reach
the project goals.
