Postdoctoral positions at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Richland, Washington, USA
1) The Atmospheric Sciences & Global Change division of PNNL is recruiting a postdoctoral scientist to improve understanding and modeling of the role of land-atmosphere-cloud interactions. The successful candidate will perform analysis of observations and design and execute modeling experiments using climate, mesoscale and/or LES models to investigate processes that that influence the initiation of clouds and precipitation.
2) PNNL is also recruiting a postdoctoral scientist to work on a project aimed at understanding microphysical processes in atmospheric convection and interactions of convection with aerosols. The overall objective of project is to understand atmospheric convection at multiple scales including formation of boundary layer rolls and shallow precipitating clouds, transition of isolated shallow to deep convection and formation of stratiform rain and the dynamics of a large population of convective clouds. The two way interactions of all of these processes with aerosols and land surface are also of interest.
Successful candidates will join a team of researchers with a broad range of interests and expertise and is expected to publish his/her work in peer reviewed journals.
