Imperial College: PhD Studentship in fire modelling

We invite applications for one PhD position on the topic of "Predicting the ecological impacts of future fire activity on a global scale” available through the NERC Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantitative and Modelling Skills in Ecology and Evolution (QMEE - https://www.imperial.ac.uk/qmee-cdt/about/).  A description of the project can be found at the following link:

https://mhasoba.pythonanywhere.com/qmee_cdt/default/view_proposals/view/proposals/26

The project will be based at the Department of Physics of Imperial College (supervisor Dr. Apostolos Voulgarakis), while it will also involve co-supervision at the Department of Geography & Environmental Science of the University of Reading (co-supervisor Prof. Sandy Harrison) and at Imperial College’s Department of Life Sciences (co-supervisor Prof. Colin Prentice).

You would be joining an active team and working on a cutting edge and multi-disciplinary scientific topic, with close interactions with the Met Office, and several opportunities for other collaborations. The position is open to candidates with background in physics, chemistry, maths, engineering, computing, geography, environmental or Earth science with at least a 2.1 Honours degree. The deadline for receiving applications is the 14th of January 2018. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Apostolos Voulgarakis (a.voulgarakis@imperial.ac.uk) or Prof. Sandy Harrison (s.p.harrison@reading.ac.uk).

Best regards,

Apostolos, Sandy and Colin
