A 4-year fully funded PhD position in Physical Oceanography is available in the department of Ocean Systems at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). The PhD student will work on boundary current transport and boundary-interior exchange using observational data from an array of moorings in the Irminger Sea, which is part of the Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program (OSNAP). We are looking for an individual with a university degree (MSc) in oceanography, meteorology, physics or a related area and a strong background in programming (Matlab, Python) and data analysis.
We are offering a 4-year full-time position with a pension scheme, a yearly 8% vacation allowance, a year-end bonus and flexible employment conditions. Working conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement of Research Centres (WVOI). The position will be located on the island of Texel, the Netherlands. Cost of relocation and help with housing is provided by the Royal NIOZ.
